The Best Burger in Sydney - Part Two

It is a sunny, wintery Sunday and I end up lunching at The Winery in Surry Hills. Lovely. It's a Pinot Gris kind of day; its mellow, slightly cheeky, spice-touched notes dance and frolic in the dappled sunshine as we sit in our garden chairs. Yes. This will do nicely. 

As my regular readers know, I am a lady with a savage hunger for an excellent burger... I am also a lady who loves lamb... Enter the Sunday Special: Lamb Burger! Perfect. I order and mop up the little stream of drool, trickling down my chin. 

When it arrives, my eyes sparkle with delight. I bite into it. It is juicy and tastes of flame... But alas, it is not a burger!! It is pieces of lamb on a bun... A lamb sandwich... Sigh. I want a lamb pattie, soft and succulent. It makes me think about what a burger actually is... I feel that for it to earn the title of burger, it cannot simply be things between a bun, there must be the involvement of some kind of pattie... So this lamb 'burger' is an imposter. Disqualified!

  1. I agree a burger is not a burger unless there is a patty involved. That is the difference between a burger and steak sandwich. What a disappointment .Serena@www.anythingbuttoast.com
